Well, Plax, why would they have kept Grant on IR if he was 100%? Did they feel that at that point, Starks had the big mojo, and no other guy could be dropped outta ....51? 52? 53? Certainly Grant was better than B-Jax.

Certainly Grant was better than B-Jax. once someone is on IR, they are done/cant play for the rest of the season, which is why Grant could not play even if he felt he was healthy enough.

So i guess that answers my query. Collie was never placed on IR, he was simply injured due to concussions so therefore he would take up a bench spot in the hope he gets fit and is able to play. Whereas Frank Gore got put onto IR late in the season and therefore whoever had him on their team could have placed him on IR then picked up a replacement in his place.
So is it only guys on your team that get IR status that can be placed in the IR spot or, as Bev asked, can you draft a Ryan Grant instead of a kicker, place Grant in the IR spot, then grab a kicker off the WW. Can that be done?

The spot is only for someone injured I think. So if Grant is active he can not be on your ir spot.

Craig, that wasn't the question. Let's say Grant gets on either the PUP (phys unable to perform), or SUS (suspended) right before the draft - both designations can be used to fill the FF IR slot, and they will only be out for a few weeks. Question is can you draft them anyway (to bench), and then AFTER the draft, place them in the IR spot, and get your kicker or whoever. You can draft a bench spot, but you can't draft directly to the IR slot, giving you 1 more player. I think the answer is yes, you can.

I would agree with that you bad demerit kid. But he has to be on one of those lists. And that would be a good strategy me thinks.

Yeah, if you look at blitzburg's link, it says:
Players are eligible for the Reserved slot if they are officially labeled by their NFL team as:
RES: Injured Reserve NON: Non Football Related Injured Reserve SUS: Suspended PUP: Physically Unable to Perform EXE: Exempt
Once a player is moved to the RES roster position, you will have an open spot on your roster and can add a player to your active roster without the need to drop someone. Note that when the time comes to activate your reserved player, you will need to make a corresponding transaction to ensure your roster meets league-specified roster limits.
I can already think of 1 player that will be in 'SUS' status. Do you think we should put it to a vote that immediately after the draft, all players go to either WW rules or FA? I forget what I chose, but recall going back and forth with that.
