most grateful for. Could be anything, but also this year in particular?
Making a small turkey surrounded by carrots & celery, maybe throw in a sweet potato - fresh cranberry-mandarin orange dressing, Stove-Top stuffing w/oysters. Publix is having a turkey sale $.49 a lb (obviously not Butterball which is still just $.99, but who cares). Thurs, they were 10 lbs & up, didn't buy one. Cleaned up the fridge and freezer, and went back today. They had a few turkeys in the 5 - 7 lb range, so I bought two 5-LBers for $5 and change. The beauty is 1) easier to make room in my freezer (bottom door, 2 pull-out shelves), like buy one for now, one for later 2) fewer leftovers per bird, maybe 3 days worth, so less waste or struggle to get creative like a chili 3) less defrost and cooking time. IDK how they are raising and selling them for this cheap. I've heard of loss leaders, but this is ridiculous. The only other big chain Winn-Dixie, is also $.49 a lb.
That was not actually the grateful part. lol This will be my first T-Day alone in awhile, and not too grateful for that. But I am thankful that me and Danny are both in good health, and that we can talk on the phone 2 - 3x a day. Also very happy to be in my new home, it is just so beautiful here, IDK if most appreciate it like I do. So close to 2 nature preserves (Thurs was a 2-gator day ). My electric bill is a lot lower than expected thru the hottest summer in a long time here - $44 - $50 a month. hahaha
Always thankful for what's left of my family, 3 games on Thursday (it used to be 2), and the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade. And of course my friends here, FF in general, and friends around the country. This season seemed to fly by a little quicker than usual. Could be a sign of old age. The old adage 'When you're young, the days by go so fast, but the years so slow. When you're old, the days go by so slow, but the years fast. So true.
