Or will AAF players use this as a springboard to get into the NFL? I'm sure some of them will end up in the nfl. Our head coach is Mike Martz and the team we play tonight (on nfl network) has Trent Richardson as RB. haha. He leads the league with 8 td's. The nfl likes it. Kind of a aaa league like baseball. I'm surprised you guys didn't know about it. I guess its just bigger here because we have a team and they play in our old stadium. There was 21,000 fans there last week. Word has it not to wear any Charger gear to the game. Random thoughts... 1) A lot of these guys will undoubtedly springboard, especially the ones that went undrafted 2) Many of these guys are rejects, IOW failed or careers cut short in the NFL. So IDK if this league remotely mirrors AAA in baseball. How many MLB players actually get cut, much less get sent back to AA. I've never heard of it, but don't know much about it. My sister & ex-BF used to go see the Yankees AAA in a small stadium in Trenton NJ, tix were like $15?(?). No idea if they filled it up. But you can't deny there is a need for AAA in baseball. Notsomuch in the NFL, they have practice squads. 3) I don't think it will take off. It might, as some will be curious. But the past has shown that most of these league can't sustain themselves for long. Not every team needed for the league's success can be viable probably. It not only competes with the NFL, but with all the other sports already out there. By the way there are definitely FF leagues already for AAF. So we need to have a big cheesy one next season. Year round FF is here !! I can promise you this will not happen. lol It's not like adding 1 more NFL league to slave over. IDK how many actual AAF leagues *EDIT* teams there are, but you gotta familiarize yourself with all new players, on top of new rules. Memphis just picked up Johnny Manziel.

I agree it would not be like a AAA team or anything baseball has. Maybe hockey would be a better comparative. Where you can send a guy who is sucking to the practice squad, and the guy he bumps can go down to the AAF team that you subscribe to so he doesnt have to be cut. maybe , maybe not..

I kind of like the rules. No kick offs is okay and no one point kick after TD is okay also. They also let them play. The games I've watched have very little penalties and reviews are only with a challenge I think. Also I heard that after a TD if you want to go for an onsides kick so to speak you get the ball with a forth and twelve. If you convert its your ball. Don't know where they start from, but I bet its deep in your own territory.

Right now, and for the next 2 months, I'll be slaving up to my eyeballs with everything involved in this move. Medical (while I still have insurance as long as I live here in Philly), getting rid of everything in my 2 bedrm apt. that I can't take (and I have no help, so afraid to have an apt. sale being alone), sending the boxes back to DirecTV close to move date, packing stuff, hiring a moving company, transferring driver's license and all insurance, Homeowners Assoc. fees and assorted crap, applying for Florida's Homestead Exemption (reduces your taxes but a lot of paperwork). Oh, the monumental (for me) stress of driving down there alone, and what to take with me. If and when I get there, wi-fi and TV set-up, cleaning, unpacking. IDK if I'll be prepared for this year's NFL drafts. I'm just past the hurdles of Inspection, unexpected a/c overhaul, HOA approval process, and finance set-up. So my idea of fun at this point is shopping for special U-Haul boxes. Wondering when this AAF league starts and ends. Not that I really care.

It sounds to me like you have your head wrapped around all this stuff pretty good. I think the league starts in February. Maybe I’ll run it next year. I’ve never run a league tho. So you guys can just help a little.

So you guys can just help a little. And shopping for boxes can be fun if you drink enough wine first Yeah, you'll get all the help you need next year. Running a league is nothing, once you set it up right. You should try to be more active than most, especially if it gets quiet. You're like the master of ceremonies. lol And IDK if there's enough wine in Napa Valley to make this fun. But for instance, I'll need the 24" x 24" by 18 if I wanna move my pedestal fans and vacuum cleaner (debating both). I should probably call a mover first, and see if any good liquor store boxes are fine (for the smaller stuff where you don't need a weird size of course). Just watched the Memphis-Birmingham AAF game I recorded yesterday. They won in OT (so 2-5 now), no thanks to Manziel, It was Johnny's debut. He didn't look terrible, and he'd only been there 3 days, but looks like Silvers is gonna be their guy, wherever he came from.

Bev I dont pity you at all moving.
We moved from SC to Texas back in 2004 and it was a cluster fuck.
Imagine 1000 miles 4 times and renting high ass storage for 4 months, trying to sell stuff at yard sales and the cost of such a big move.
I was glad it was over. It got so bad I was giving stuff away and saying fuck it I will buy another one.
hahaha

Actually, if it's a move, it should be 3 (or 5? yikes) one-way trips. Can't imagine what your situation was with storage, but certainly ain't remotely an option for me. And I'm already giving stuff away. I may have a quick apt. sale advertised in the lobby, and get a few people. Cuz not about to let every Craigslist predator come up here and beat me, rob me, whatever. So I'll be offering a queen Sealy Posturepedic whole setup for $100 if lucky, full oak kitchen table & 4 chairs for $50 if lucky, glass cocktail & 2 tables same, gorgeous loveseat for same, I lugged it from my mom's after she died, and never sat on it. I'm gonna lose my entire security deposit, cuz no way I can get all this stuff outta here, and clean the apt to their standards, holes in the walls ($50 a hole, screw them, it takes no time at all). They get you for everything. Leaving this couch alone is $250. And I know they're gonna charge me more than my $1k+ sec dep, so why should I break my ass? Or call 800-GOT-JUNK to be charged by both of them? (not u, mgmt)

I heard today this league may fold in the next few days. Are you kidding? I did call it a few days ago that these leagues are usually not viable, but this soon?!?! WTF do they do with the contracts? They are certainly not in the millions, if even 250k (or 100k for some? ) range, but it's probably an accepted risk for the players. But don't call me shocked.

Ya know, they (NFL?) didn't do the best job of advertising the existence of the league. I mean, none of us are football ignorant here, and neither me nor Jeppers heard of it. Actually, only cuz I have a bunch of channels did it barely register. So I'd seen it, but not interested enough to look into exactly what it was. So it's 8 leagues, and one of them is in your football-mourning city, so yeah, it was biggish news there. Not a blip on my radar, and I watch GMF (Good Morning Football) every day. Seems a shame to pump all this money and people's lives and livelihoods, and then mismanage the whole thing. But again, even if better managed, I called it instantly - just met its demise a lot sooner than later. Well, Dundon will announce tomorrow.
